I’m thrilled to share that I was recently featured on the Registry Insider video podcast, hosted by Bill Seifarth, the Executive Director of the National Registry of EMTs (NREMT). In this special episode, titled "The History of EMS with Donnie Woodyard," we take a deep dive into the rich history of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) in the U.S.
We explored key moments that have defined our profession, from the pivotal 1966 white paper to the formation of the NREMT in 1970. The discussion also touched on the fascinating story behind the creation of the iconic EMS symbol and its evolution over time. Throughout the episode, Bill and I reflected on the incredible journey of EMS, sharing little-known stories and insights into the path that has brought us to where we are today.
One of the highlights was discussing my latest book, EMS in the United States: Fragmented Past, Future of Opportunity, where I delve into the history of EMS and the exciting future that lies ahead for our profession.
As an exciting follow-up, I will also be hosting a live book signing at EMS World Expo on Wednesday, Sept 11. This is a great opportunity to meet in person, ask questions, and get a signed copy of my book. I look forward to connecting with many of you at this incredible event!
If you’re passionate about EMS history or looking for inspiration on where our field is heading, I encourage you to watch the full episode on YouTube here: Watch the Episode.
Thank you to Bill Seifarth and the NREMT for the opportunity to share these important stories and insights, and I hope to see you at EMS World Expo!
