EMS Leaders may not know what organizations or resources exist, especially at the national level.  This is a list of organizations and resources to assist EMS Leaders and Managers. 

All visitors are encouraged to visit and support the official National EMS History Museum. 

NEMSAC provides recommendations, advice, and consultation to the U.S. Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Federal Interagency Committee on Emergency Medical Services (FICEMS) on matters pertaining to Emergency Medical Services . 

The National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) was founded in 1975 as a non-profit professional organization dedicated to representing and advocating for emergency medical services practitioners.

COAEMSP is the nationally recognized accreditation organization for Paramedic education in the United States.

Founded in 1873, the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) is a professional association for fire chiefs and high-ranking fire service leaders. Throughout its history, the IAFC has been committed to the continuous improvement of fire services, including EMS. 

NAEMSP is dedicated to the advancement of EMS medical direction, clinical practice, and research, providing leadership and resources for EMS physicians.

CSG is a nonpartisan organization that serves all three branches of state government. It fosters the exchange of insights and ideas to help state officials shape public policy, focusing on various issues, including public health and emergency services. 

The National EMS Memorial Foundation’s mission is to honor the heroism, courage, and enduring sacrifice of all past, present, and future EMS Providers and to remember and celebrate the lives of those killed in the line of duty.

Each year this web resource is updated with the latest information related to National EMS Week. Be sure to explore the resources available to celebrate EMS in your local community.

Established by Congress in 2005, FICEMS coordinates Federal agencies supporting local, regional, State, tribal, and territorial EMS and 911 systems and provides a forum for Federal agencies and staff to collaborate to improve EMS delivery across the nation.

The EMS for Children (EMSC) Program is a federal initiative in the United States that aims to improve the emergency medical care provided to children, including infants, children, adolescents, and young adults up to the age of 21, who require medical care in an emergency setting.

 IBSC offers board certifications for various specialties in EMS, including Critical Care Paramedic (CCP-C), Tactical Paramedic (TP-C), Flight Paramedic (FP-C), Community Paramedic (CP-C), and Wilderness Paramedic (WP-C). 

The American Ambulance Association promotes for mobile healthcare through advocacy, thought leadership, and education. 

Established in 1918, the IAFF, as the country's largest professional organization of firefighters, recognizes the importance of EMS leadership within the fire service, playing a crucial role in shaping the evolution of EMS services.

The IAEMSC promotes leadership, cooperation, and information exchange among EMS chiefs and managers, fostering collaboration and growth in the EMS industry.

Since the Highway Safety Act of 1966, the US Department of Transportation has maintained a consistent role in the development of Emergency Medical Services in the United States.

The EMS Compact facilitates the movement of licensed EMS personnel across state boundaries in the performance of their official duties by providing EMS professionals a Privilege to Practice in the other Compact States.

The NREMT was formed in 1970 as the National EMS Certification organization.

CAAHEP is the largest programmatic accreditor of the health sciences professions education in the United States.

NEMSMA is a professional association of EMS leaders dedicated to the discovery, development, and promotion of excellence in leadership and management in EMS systems, regardless of EMS system model, organizational structure or agency affiliation.
